Feeling stuck?

Perhaps you’re at an impasse? If you have been finding it difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is that is bothering you then maybe the answer is something more philosophical?  Something much bigger.  Existential therapy focuses on exploring those fundamental questions and concerns about human existence, such as the meaning of life*, what constitutes freedom, choices you have or have not made, or perhaps your responsibilities as a person and as a human. There’s also the small matter of death.  What is the meaning of my life and what is my legacy?   Does there even need to be one?

Existential therapy is weeks, months years. It takes time to encourage individuals to examine their own values, beliefs, and choices in order to find the meaning and purpose they are looking for. But how much more satisfying life could be if you were to be aware of who you are and what you stand for? Existential therapists help clients address what makes them anxious, promoting self-awareness and personal growth.

For myself, I’ve noticed I never feel more alive than when I’m working towards something - but I have also checked that I am not busying myself to avoid something else!  I need to stop and remember to notice what I’m feeling as I’m doing it! I think it’s usually joy. For me, there’s tremendous satisfaction in seeing something come together, something being assembled or put right. It doesn’t matter whether it is decorating rooms, renovating houses, repairing cars, tending gardens, supporting people.  It’s all the same thing, right? Restoration.
